I’ve been hooked on Black Myth: Wukong ever since it hit shelves in 2024, and even now in 2026, I still find myself diving back into its punishing yet beautiful world. Of all the systems that keep the combat fresh, the Relics and their selectable perks remain my favorite. They’re not just passive trinkets; they genuinely change how you approach every dangerous encounter. Let me walk you through the Relic perks I swear by and why they’ve become community staples.

You get your first Relic after finishing Chapter 1, and each subsequent chapter rewards you with another. In a single playthrough you’ll collect five, and you can only have one perk active per Relic at any time. Whenever you rest at a shrine, head to Reignite the Sparks and swap them around – experimentation is half the fun. But after countless boss kills and New Game+ runs, certain choices rise above the rest.
Craving Eyes – Opportune Watcher
The very first Relic sets the tone for how I play. Its three options are:
-
Opportune Watcher: Considerably boosts focus gained from consecutive light attack hits.
-
Eagle Eye: Massively reduces Unveiling Strike cooldown on a successful hit.
-
Keen Insight: Considerably increases critical hit damage.
While critical damage looks tempting, focus is the lifeblood of your offense. Opportune Watcher lets you build focus noticeably faster during a light combo, which means you can unleash charged heavy attacks or varied combos far more often. Against aggressive foes like the Giant Shigandang or the Whiteclad Noble, that extra rhythm of weaving in heavy finishers makes all the difference. I have never regretted slotting this in.

Fuming Ears – Whistling Wind
Chapter 2’s Relic gives you:
-
All Ears: Slightly extends the invincibility frames of the first move in every varied combo.
-
Sound as a Bell: Tighter deflection window on Rock Solid, but a successful parry refunds half the mana cost.
-
Whistling Wind: Temporarily increases attack after a perfect dodge.
This is a no-brainer. Whistling Wind rewards you for doing what you already do constantly – dodging. Since Black Myth: Wukong demands dodging almost on muscle memory, that attack buff has near-constant uptime. I can count on it to melt enemy health bars without relying on consumables. It turns every fluid dodge into a tiny power surge, and the more aggressive you are, the more value you squeeze out.

Hubris Nose – Hold Breath
The third Relic offers:
-
Lingering Aroma: Moderate damage boost for a short time after casting any spell.
-
In One Breath: You can charge focus points up to +4 while standing in Ring of Fire.
-
Hold Breath: Moderately extends dodge invincibility duration (iframes).
Don’t overthink this – Hold Breath is a game-changer. In a Soulslike where every frame matters, pushing your dodge iframes just a little further makes you feel untouchable. I found it especially valuable during quick multi-hit combos from bosses like Yellowbrow or the Duskveil. It lets you dodge through attacks that would otherwise clip you, and that breathing room transforms defensive play into a dance of near-misses.

Envious Tongue – Spread the Word
Chapter 4’s Relic perks are:
-
Refreshing Taste: After consuming medicine, boosts critical hit chance of the next attack.
-
Spread the Word: Immobilize affects all enemies around the target.
-
Tongue of a Connoisseur: Each equipped soak slightly increases the drink’s health recovery.
Spread the Word redefines crowd control. Immobilize is your bread-and-butter spell, and before this relic, I dreaded packs of foes – locking down just one meant three others would eat my health. With this perk, one cast freezes an entire mob, letting you safely dismantle them with a charged pillar stance slam or a spinning staff of death. It’s satisfying, efficient, and frankly hilarious. This alone makes the Tiger Vanguard’s arena feel almost trivial.

Grieved Body – Everlasting Vitality
The final regular Relic presents:
-
Nimble Body: Massively reduces stamina cost of all charged heavy attacks.
-
Everlasting Vitality: Considerably increases maximum health.
-
Divine Safeguard: Considerably boosts resistance to burn, frost, shock, and poison.
At first glance, +60 health doesn’t sound massive. But in Black Myth: Wukong, that’s often the difference between scraping by with a sliver of life and seeing the “Destined One sacrifices himself” screen. I’ll take raw survivability over stamina efficiency any day. It bought me the slimmest margins of error against the Yaksha King and the final gauntlet, and in a game where healing is limited, every hit point counts. After hundreds of hours, I’ve never found a substitute for the confidence Everlasting Vitality gives.

These five relics form the backbone of my loadout, and the community has largely rallied around similar picks over the last two years. Of course, you might find niche uses for Eagle Eye or Sound as a Bell if you’re deep into a specific build, but for pure consistency and adaptability, the perks I’ve outlined never fail. If you’re still climbing the mountain, try these out – your journey will feel much smoother.
